William Reed conducts a survey of the Massachusetts Bay Colony.

It is performed to support the boundaries of the first Massachusetts Charter of 1628. The survey discovers that the Merrimack River runs north and south, as well as east and west. The survey also attempts to stretch the charter’s boundaries to 30 miles north of the source of the river, which prompts a conflict between Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
